with Lucy McAllister, Attorney at Law, 

Shelley Peery, Ph.D. and Shawn McCall, Psy.D.


Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Analyze ethical and legal dilemmas using a systematic approach.

2. Describe resources in the literature and in the community to consult when faced with dilemmas.

3. Recognize three measures to take to protect your license.

4. Apply the above skills to various forensic contexts.


About Ms. McAllister:

Lucy S. McAllister, J.D. is an attorney with over 25 years of experience in several areas of law, including license defense. She defends California professionals who are under investigation or accusation and those who have had their licenses suspended or revoked and need license reinstatement. She provides a range of legal services including criminal defense.  A graduate of Santa Clara University School of Law, Ms. McAllister defends individuals throughout California. She has also served as a judge in various courts.

About Dr. Peery:

Shelley Peery, Ph.D. is a neuropsychologist and the executive director at San Francisco Neuropsychology, PC. She completed her doctorate in the Neuropsychology subprogram at City University of New York; her internship at Mount Sinai; and her post doctoral fellowship at New York University Medical Center. Currently, her practice includes both clinical and forensic neuropsychology. She is a Fellow of the National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN) and previously served as Chair of the Diversity Committee for NAN. She has also served on the board of NCNF (Treasurer 2008-2010, Member at Large 2010-2012).

About Dr. McCall:

Shawn McCall, Psy.D. is a psychologist who is currently practicing in California, and he has a broad array of professional experiences that inform his work with children, parents, families, courts, and schools. Dr. McCall has been active in the professional community, including being a past president of the San Francisco Psychological Association, being the current chairperson of the Ethics committee of the same, and a past treasurer of the Santa Clara County Psychological Association. Dr. McCall presents across the nation on clinical, forensic, and ethical topics and considerations in practice. As his career in psychology has largely been court-involved, he is currently in law school and pursuing an additional career in law as a natural extension of his work thus far. In order to the learn best practices for the legal profession, he has joined the Bar Association of San Francisco’s ethics committee and has been writing articles for The BASF Bulletin.
