Grievance Procedure

The Northern California Neuropsychology Forum (NCNF) is fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with the American Psychological Association's Ethical Principles of Psychologists. NCNF will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants. The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of the President of NCNF, who also serves as the Continuing Education Administrator, in consultation with the NCNF Board of Directors. While NCNF goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues which come to the attention of the Forum Board of Directors which require intervention and/or action on the part of an officer of NCNF. When a grievance arises pertaining to continuing education programs or processes, the complainant is expected to notify the CE Administrator (the NCNF President) in person, by phone, or email, as soon as possible so that the concern(s) can be addressed in a timely fashion. Contact information is on the NCNF website: www.ncnf.org

1. If the grievance concerns a speaker, the content presented by the speaker, or the style of presentation, the individual filing the grievance will be asked to put his/her comments in writing. The CE Administrator will then pass on the comments to the speaker, assuring the confidentiality of the grieved individual.

2. If the grievance concerns a workshop offering, its content, level of presentation, or the facilities in which the workshop was offered, the CE Administrator will mediate and will be the final arbitrator. If the participant requests action, the CE Administrator will:

a. provide a credit for a subsequent year's workshop or

b. provide a partial or full refund of the workshop fee.

These actions (2a and 2b) will require a written note, documenting the grievance, for record keeping purposes. The note need not be signed by the aggrieved individual.

3. If the grievance concerns the NCNF CE program, in a specific regard, the Program Committee Chair will attempt to arbitrate.

If a grievance cannot be resolved by the above actions, the complainant will be advised, in writing, that he/she is encouraged to present the complaint at the next regularly scheduled Board Meeting to clarify the concerns and reach a resolution. Should a complaint remain unresolved at this stage, the NCNF Board will seek counsel from the American Psychological Association.

Confidential records of all grievances, the process of resolving the grievance, and the outcome will be kept in locked files of the CE Administrator.

This form will be made available at seminars and is posted on the NCNF Website (www.ncnf.org)

If the grievance concerns NCNF CE program, in a specific regard, the CE Chair will attempt to arbitrate.
