    Event Description:

    This presentation will discuss the selection process for internships offering specialization in neuropsychology, as well as provide data regarding the expectations of those internships for competitive applicants. Further, it will present data on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on training opportunities and how this has affected the expectations of internship training directors and supervisors.

    Learning Objectives

    1. Attendees will gain an understanding of neuropsychology internship supervisors’ updated expectations for competitive applicants from a diverse sample of doctoral internship programs offering neuropsychological training.
    2. Attendees will knowledge of data on cross-sectional and longitudinal comparisons of internships' expectations to help trainees tailor their graduate training experiences.
    3. Attendees will be able to describe the decreased clinical training opportunities during the COVID-19 pandemic, with insights into how training directors and supervising neuropsychologists from internships offering neuropsychology training adjusted the expectations of competitive applicants.

    About Dr. Hirst

    Rayna Hirst, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and Director of Neuropsychology at Palo Alto University, a doctoral program in clinical psychology. She teaches courses on biological psychology and neuropsychological assessment. She also conducts research in neuropsychology and clinical assessment on topics including effort testing and motivation, the effects of chronic marijuana use, sport concussion and recovery, and health-related factors that impact cognitive function in an aging population. She also has a part-time private practice conducting clinical neuropsychological assessments for a broad range of patients. She is currently serving as Member at Large for NCNF.
