Dr. Morsella leads the Action and Consciousness Laboratory at San Francisco State and his research focuses on the differences in the brain between conscious and unconscious aspects of action control integrating cognitive, neurobiological, and neurological approaches. He is highly productive and has authored over 50 books, book chapters, and peer reviewed articles and lectures internationally on his topic since completing his PhD at Columbia in 2002. He is also is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the Institute of Cognitive Neurology in Buenos Aires.
Specific learning objectives:
· Understanding the integrative function of consciousness in the brain.
· Distinguishing integrative processes that require consciousness from those that do not.
· Appreciating the connection between conscious processing and the skeletal muscle effector system.
